1st day out!

Today we hit the road bright and early, and I specifically decided to wear glasses for the sole purpose of sleeping. I carried out that mission quite effectively as we set out on our way, waking up at about
9:30am, 3 hours and some change later. It's a comfortable bus, and it has outlets! Crazy plus. I was fortunate to share a aisle with Kenya, who has large supplies of 5 gum and raisins to pilfer through. Enclosed is a picture of her and me on the way out of Greensboro. We stopped and got lunch at Downtown Greensboro, where a few of us enjoyed Smoothies for lunch. I will say however that my smoothie included a fiber supplement, and as of writing this my stomach isn't exactly agreeing with me. The International Civil Rights Museum was great and well curated. It really changed some of my thoughts on people and on their acceptance and enforcement of the status quo. Black people were forced to move beyond slow moving policy, beyond friends in high places, to take matters into their own hands. I was compelled by the many ways the museum showed segregation in its many forms, from coke vending machines to job listings. It was thorough, detailed, and interesting. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and using the bathroom once we get off of the bus.
