Change

I think today I came to terms with the fact that I don’t think I could ever love this country unless things change. Standing in front of the remains of someone who fought so hard and was willing to risk their life to keep my ancestors in shackles, and knowing that they, even after death, are still being treated like heroes made me sick to my stomach. This country was built on the backs of the enslaved and still, centuries later, (although we’ve made significant progress) their descendants are still being treated like they’re worth nothing.
