Manifestation of Voices
I saw hundreds of faces, a multiethnic congregation, all gathered to worship god. While I come from a religious family, I don’t celebrate religion personally. However, I was really moved by the service. I witnessed a preacher who seemed to be possessed by the Lord himself, but also, if applicable, a voice calling for justice as well. I also enjoyed the singing, and for one moment I saw a few feathers falling from the sky, which I felt could’ve been a sign that Gods angels were listening in this morning.
I was also pleased to see Andrew Young as well. To me, he felt like a link to the past, being by MLK Jr.’s side for so long. And for most of this day I’ve been thinking about his response to a question asked. It was about whether or not the movement could have turned out the same way without religious faith intertwined. While he said no, it got me thinking about something I read a few days ago. It said that one of the major signs a manifestation is close to becoming reality was that you experience adversity and failure. Even when the movement was faced with adversity, they persevered, and made resounding changes to the world.
Finally, another notable experience I had today was with an audio stimulation of the Greensboro 4 protest, which allowed you to experience some of what they did during those days. It only lasted a minute, but it felt like so much more. I barely made it to the end, so I can’t even fathom spending more than 10 minutes in those seats. However, I’m really glad I was able to experience everything I did today. I feel grateful that I was born into a generation that can and will enact societal change for the marginalized.
