Realization

Today at the museum, I did the interactive lunch counter sit-in. In my headset, there was a white man yelling in my ear, threatening me and making me feel inferior or less than. He had bigotry in his voice like he wanted to see me suffer and this was just because of the color of my skin; something that I have no control over. It made me realize that activists at the time made protesting look a lot harder than it looks. They had to be strong and persistent to do what they did and it made me look at civil rights pictures in a different light. I also think this ties to when Dr. Andrew Young was speaking about music and how it was a big part of the civil rights movement. Music was a way for them to stay calm and was a reminder to stay peaceful among chaos. It promoted togetherness within the people involved in the movement and even today can promote those same values.
