The Day of Many Emotions

Today my emotions were going all over the place. I was upset, frustrated, angry and inspired by people like MLK all at the same time. I have never had so many emotions at once especially about this topic.

Today the sad truth came to me: that there are people in this world that don’t want me in the US or to go to a majority Caucasian private school. They wouldn’t care if I died or if I’m the nicest person to them. To them, I am black, therefore, I don’t belong, or I can’t do certain things, or I deserve the worst treatment. THIS is the reality that I and other people that look like me have to think about when we see confederate flags flying high with so much pride or hearing our very own president, Donald Trump call Africa where our ancestors lived, “Shithole countries” and receiving little to none consequences for it. If President Obama said something like that about Europe The US would be angry. I feel angrier and sadder knowing that even my own president and people like him don't care or respect people like me. I think that this is a problem not only in America but in other countries as well. We need equal representation in our governments so everyone gets a voice. With diverse voices, a change will happen in the government. People will become more educated about different races, cultures, ethnic groups, etc. is powerful and impactful. I’m not saying that this will solve racism, but it has a sense of importance.
